DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO TAKE HOME THE

RENO RIT COMPETITION TROPHY?

FireShowsWest has been the pinnacle of bringing the latest training and education to firefighters in the West Coast. We are constantly researching new ways to enliven our conference. After being introduced to the Florida RIT Operation’s Group’s (F.R.O.G.) mission, we knew we just had to host it.

For its second year, FireShowsWest is honored to host the RENO RIT Competition. Playing into the natural competitive nature of firefighters, the RENO RIT Competition will put your team of 5 in a RIT simulation. Each team will be timed and judged on skill.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring the status and location of firefighters inside the hazard zone.

  • Preparing specialized equipment, such as ropes, thermal imaging cameras, and breaching tools.

  • Deploying swiftly to rescue firefighters in trouble, often under extreme and hazardous conditions.

"The goal is to create an environment that is realistic and challenging for firefighters to complete. Most importantly is to LEARN SAFELY and improve the skills required in the competition and take those skills to your home organizations."

Teams must compete in what they would wear on the job.

Bunker gear to include:

  • Hood

  • Gloves

ALL PPE MUST BE CLEAN!

Any smell of smoke or contaminated gear could result in disqualification and forfeiture of the registration fee.

Most teams bring their own NFPA compliant SCBA and cylinders.  If your team cannot bring their own packs, or any of the items listed above due to travel please let the us know prior to registration and we can work to secure packs from the relevant vendor for that area.

A RIT pack, search rope(s), irons, saws or anything specifically required for the competition will be provided by the competition.

Teams need to remember that (4) of the competitors will compete in gear.

The IC (Incident Command) will not compete in gear as they are separated and out of line of sight of their team/personnel.

Some teams train with a bring an “alternate” competitor in the event someone gets sick or cannot compete for another reason.  It is not required but we have seen the more serious teams operate in this manner just in case.
